Putting Together a Southwest Summer Outfit

The Southwest look has been hot for a few years now and with it's flattering color scheme for almost anyone, it's a great look to try out no matter what your hair color or skin tone.

To get into the mode of the southwest look, think "southwest". Thinking blowing desert breezes and flowing fabrics that will reflect that. Think early colors from the painted mountains such as earthy oranges, turquoise blues, off whites, yellow tones and dusky reds.

Long flowing button up shirts made from lightweight cottons and a dusty blue pair of pants is a good start. Pair that with a long duster coat with some turquoise beaded accents and you have a good look. Your shoes should also reflect the look. Heels or flats is your choice but keep the color scheme. An embellished pair of light purple sandals is a must for any Southwest themed wardrobe.

Also, hats are part of the Southwest look. Cowboy or hats with a decidedly western flavor can be incorporated into a good look. Jewelry worn is mostly sterling silver that is accented with turquoise or other stones found in the region such as jasper.

In the cooler months boots are a good accessory and as for hair styles, long and flowing or in braids; or a short and sassy cut that looks a little tossed and windblown will look adorable.

Getting a Southwest look is an affordable way to ride a fashion trend and look great doing it!

Adjustable Sandals

If you have not been into wearing sandles because you have either extra thin or extra wide feet, you can still wear sandals.

When a person has very thin or very wide feet, they often make the mistake of wearing a sandal with the smallest thong toe separator as possible. The reasoning is that with a small thong on top, the wide feet will have room they need to be comfortable and the thin feet won't have the rubbing problem on the sides that is experienced with most slides.

Unfortunately, this line of thinking can lead to some uncomfortable fitting sandals as wide feet need more support and thin feet need sandals that will fit the footbed closely for a more comfortable walk.

A pair of adjustable sandals is the option for both these kinds of feet. Shoes that are too tight can lead to blisters and even foot infections. Shoes that are too large on the sides around a thin foot can lead to painful callouses from the rubbing.

Sandals with adjustable straps will allow you to pull the straps around until you get the perfect fit for your individual feet. Another option is a backless pair of slide sandals with an adjustable thong that will eliminate the rubbing on any type of foot.

No matter what your foot size, you can get a comfy pair of sandals!

The Leopard Look- Wild and Sexy

In many areas of the country, you can wear sandals not only in the summer, but throughout most of the year as well. Even if you can't wear them outside, many people use sandals all year around to pad around their homes to keep their feet off the bare floors. Choose a nice, comfortable flat pair of sandals with straps that go across the foot instead of a thong if you live in a colder climate so you can wear socks or heavy hosiery indoors and still wear lightweight footwear inside your home while keeping your tootsies warm.

If you're a woman who enjoys walking in the front of the fashion line, a hot fashion trend that you might find fits your style is the leopard look. Granted this style isn't for the shy or reserved type but if you want to set your inner lioness free, a pair of sandals to compliment your look will fit the bill.

With a sassy leopard print dress pair a strappy pair of sandals with a little bit of heel to make your calves really stand out. Use some of the colors in the leopard spot for you choice in shoe color. You don't have to wear leopard print sandals - in fact that might be overkill. Instead opt for either black or pick up a pair of sandals that matches the darker browns found in the animal print.

Another option for wearing leopard fabrics is to go for a pair of sandals that will draw even more attention to your legs through the use of laces that go around your ankle and calves. If you have legs you want to show off - get a pair of sandals that will make the viewer's eye travel over your outfit, to your feet and then back up again. The Helen Sandals from Roxy are the perfect pairing to a leopard outfit whether it is a dress or skirt.

Get in on the animal print trend and let your inner wild woman come out and play.

Hot Purse Styles for Fall

Ready, set, here comes fall! It's no longer a fashion requirement to change your purse and shoes with every season and with the invention of winter whites, you don't even have to fold up your white clothing and pack away your white shoes after Labor Day.

The new rules apply to purses too. Try to match your purse to your outfit. Pairing your purse with your belt and your shoes is still a good ides for matching up your accessories and looking truly pulled together but it is no longer a fashion rule.

Freestyle, the same company that makes the great fitting sandals, makes a line of purses to match their shoes. They come in two distinct styles, Foxy for the casual look and Townie for a more professional handbag.

Both styles have all the features most women want in a handbag. Pockets for organization, so you don't have to waste time digging for your driving license, wallet, lipstick or other items that always seem to drop and hide in the bottom of a purse.

The Foxy purses are convertible from a shoulder strap to a clutch so you can get two great looks out of one very functional purse. The Townie has an adjustable strap that can be taken down to clutch size and the fold over flap makes this a great purse for travel if you're going to be in an area where pick pockets roam for tourists, a fold over flap is a great deterrent to someone with busy fingers looking to relieve you of your wallet and other valuables.

Get a great look all year around with one of the great purses from Freestyle.

Barely There Flip-Flops

Sometimes a pair of sandals will make or break your outfit. There are summer outfits that call for your choice of footwear to be low-key and barely there.

With some short dress styles, wrap skirts or bathing suit coverups, you want to look as close to barefooted as possible, yet have some coverage for the soles of your feet. This can be accomplished by choosing a pair of sandals with either a very thin or clear thong strap that is made as thinly as possible.

The foot bed of your sandals should conform to your feet and be as thin as possible. Most of the brand name sandals of today will already be made with comfortable walking in mind. If you would like something a little decorative on your feet while keeping the attitude of your footwear in a "barely there" mode, check out a pair of Roxy Glasssy Sandals. All Roxy Sandals are made to be fun and flirty designs and this pair of sandals is no exception to that rule.

These sandals are made to fit your feet with ultra-flat leather soles and a fun designed thong that is very thin and decorated with pewter and glass beads. If you have feet you love to show off or even better pair these sandals with a cool anklet and a couple of toe rings and you'll have a sexy summer look from the top of your head to your very pretty toes!
