Havianas -Some Simple Beginnings Comes Great Style!
The
Havaianas sandals were once just the plain shoes of the simple folk in Brazil. They were the shoe of choice among the housekeepers, laborers, fieldworkers and other people who needed long lasting shoes but couldn't afford expensive footwear.
The uncomplicated yet very functional design of the Havaianas shoes were first designed in the early 1960's and were inspired by the footwear worn by Japanese field workers. The name comes from the Portuguese word for Hawaiians and was selected, as Hawaii was the place most Americans were vacation bound at the time.
Fast forward to the present and these sandals have left Brazil and are now a brand known throughout the world for their comfort, durability and style. Actress Sandra Bullock made a splash when she wore a pair of Havaianas with an evening gown to a Tinsel Town bash.
The real attitude change came in the mid-1990's when the Havaianas were redesigned to be more than a durable sandal and they became a fashion statement coming in dozens of hot designs and colors. Complete with floral designs and crystals placed decoratively on the straps. The basic make-up of the sandal was unchanged as they are already exceedingly comfortable with their buttery soft rubber soles that is made with a synthetic rubber and is exclusive to the Havaianas design. This paid off big time as the popularity of the new styles spread and more and more designs were created as the line expanded and today, there is truly a Havaianas sandal for everyone's taste.
